About the Newfoundland Breed

Newfoundlands, known as gentle giants - are wonderful companion dogs. They love to be around people. Please be sure to do your research on the breed. They grow fast and need consistent training by an adult for at least the first year. If not, a large Newfoundland pup can knock down a small child. They have lots of energy as a puppy. Also, they need regular time spent grooming with their thick double coat. Most “Newfies” drool. However, after committing the time and energy, a well trained Newfoundland can be your best friend and will enjoy being by your side. Energetic pups need more exercise than an adult, which needs moderate exercise to be healthy and not overweight. Because of their size, they also require extra cost of food, health care and grooming. Socialization is important as well as introducing the pup to many experiences.
